삐삐 알람 소리에 무거운 머리를 겨우 일으켜 세운다. 여전히 하늘을 날며 패러글라이딩을 하는 기분이다. 두둥실 떠 있는 듯한 이상한 기분....
오늘 아침 마운트 쿡으로 이동해야 하는데 이 상태로 무언가 움직이는 물체를 탈 수 있을지 걱정이다.
정신을 차려보려고 찬물로 샤워를 하고, 무료로 제공하는 아침도 챙겨먹고 해 보지만 컨디션이 말이 아니다.
짐을 챙기고 체크 아웃을 하고 픽업 장소로 뛰어간다. 너무 밍기적댔는지 버스가 가고 없다. ㅡ,.ㅡ;;
근데 어디선가 일본 여자가 튀어나오더니,
"are you YANG?"
"yes!"
"You're lucky!"
"what???"
다짜고짜 럭키라니, 차 놓쳤구먼. 쩝...
픽업 장소인 밀레니엄 호텔 앞에는 많은 단체 관광객들이 묵고 있는 모양이다. 한국인들도 보이고, 일본인들도 보인다. 다시 돌아온다던 Great Sight라는 버스가 도착하고 버스에 몸을 날리고 보니 이거 일본인 단체 관광 버스인가 보다. 내가 잘못 탔나? 내가 왜 이걸 탄거야? 내가 일본인으로 보여?
암튼 수많은 일본인들 틈에 끼어 나는 마운트 쿡까지 얌전히 실려왔다. 중간에 2번이나 shopping center에 세워서 과일을 사고, 커피를 마셨지만 이동 내내 병든 닭처럼 잠을 잔 나로서는 그 곳이 어디인지 전혀 알지 못했다. 궂이 알고 싶지도 않았지만...
42도에 푹푹 찌는 마운트 쿡의 느낌은 조금 이상하다.
이런 무더위에도 눈 앞의 설산에서 빛나는 빙하의 모습이란 신기하기도 하고 이상하기도 하고...
지금은 한 낮의 폭염을 피해 하드를 빨며 일기를 쓴다. 빙하 투어도 이미 했고, 트랙킹은 원하는 바가 아닌 나로서는 이 곳 마운트 쿡에서 할 일이 아무 것도 없다. 그냥 푹 쉴 수 밖에. 원래 그게 목적이었기도 했고....
